Should I buy gold bars instead of coins?
Should you purchase gold bars instead? I had someone ask me that question today, a customer actually, who was told by another bullion dealer that he has to stay away from buying gold bars.
The reason they gave him was that gold bars are too large and are not as liquid as coins. While this may be true for some bars, it is not always the case.
You can purchase bars which are smaller in size or weight than a 1 oz coin. A lot of people watch these movies of 400 ounce bars and they think that’s all there is. These are the kinds of bars you will have a hard time transporting or selling. In that case they are less liquid than say a Krugerrand gold coin.
But there are bars that are much smaller than even coin sizes and these are the ones worth taking a look at. You can even get them in grams which can be used as jewelry etc..
