What killed the California Dream was conservatism. We had the ideal life here, a clean state, with great natural beauty advice, low population, and no problems, until we got the kooks, the misfits, the conservatives from the rest of the country. It was Reagan who put an end to free education up to and including doctorate, who ended our development of infrastructure, who dumbed -down our schools, who put us into debt, then left to do the same things to the nation as a whole.
We were left with a constitutional amendment that restricted property taxes , to protect the rich, and now cannot pay for the services we want and need. We got Reaganed, just like America, and we are in the same fix that you conservatives have put the entire nation.
